2017 Summer Swimwear Trends

What better way to get through a white winter than by dreaming about and shopping for the latest in spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends? What could possibly make us happier than booking those warm weather vacations and putting together the perfect wardrobes for the coming year’s holidays down South? But in order to shop, we need to know the summer 2017 swimsuit trends and that is where this report comes in.

Check out the top summer 2017 swimwear trends that appeared on the Miami Swim Week among others and pick out which pieces are the best fit for you!

#1: Brides of the Waves

With so many destination weddings being organized these days, the fad certainly calls for swimwear options that would be worn the day after and totally encompass the honeymoon mood. Lacy and white pieces that are just perfect for the happy days of your coupling are perfect for when you decide to take a dip in the ocean or just simply lounge about under the sun.

They come in single pieces and double, off-the-shoulder and halter top, super sexy and more on the modest side. At the end of the day though, whether you are shopping Beach Riot, Baes and Bikinis, Beach Bunny or For Love & Lemons, the newlywed look perfect for conquering the waves is the spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trend you totally can get into.

#2: Tasseled Swimsuits

If you like having additional ornaments on your summer 2017 swimwear, wearing the garments not just to swim in but to enjoy walking about as well, then you might want to consider adding in some tassels and a whole lot of party fun. These are great for a beach party, day or night, particularly the off-the-shoulder black flirty Hammock piece that comes with a little skirt attached to the mid-cut bottoms, totally bringing out the Latina in all of us.

You could stick to string bikinis as well, of course, and perhaps dress it up in bridal style with a halter and lace as seen at Beach Riot. The important thing is that once you don the tassels, there is no way you are not going to be having fun.

#3: Total Crop Top

You can be thin or toned, with added weight or fully endowed, it matters not. The crop top fashion has been sweeping the runways for a few seasons now and we love seeing the swimwear match the spring/ summer 2017 fashion trends as well.

For the spring/ summer months of 2017, you can enjoy crop tops with sheer paneling as seen at Chromat, or those with strategic cutouts that complement the body perfectly, the high-neck bikini trend really doing wonders at Mink Swim and Hammock. Some designs are meant to combine bikini with single pieces and that is where Indah Clothing’s gorgeous designs come in with incredible coloring.

#4: Sheer Beauty

High cuts on the legs do wonders for this particular summer 2017 swimwear trend, where there are sheer cutouts added to the swimsuit that can range from near transparent to near opaque. Bold colors and graphic shapes are the standout factors here, with the one-piece creations really taking on a sexier turn, combined with low cuts at the neckline and barely there effects only countered by the red ribbon effect at Filthy Haanz, for example.

Black and sheer certainly does give us a great image around the waist, while For Love & Lemons proves easily that black and peach blush combinations can have an intensely attractive outcome.

#5: Held in Halter

One great style we have noticed among the spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends has been the use of halter tops throughout, for everything from bikinis to one-pieces that dominate the runways. Triangle tops are a thing of the past in 2017, as the more conservative halters bring the sexy back but in a whole new manner.

Sheer inserts and crochet cutouts are one way in which the halter has been made more risqué for the season at this point, while the trend itself looks astounding when paired with a tiny triangle bikini as seen as KAOHS Swim. As for the sheer additions, Lee & Lani definitely does wonders in that department when creating something that is both sexy and for the modern lady.

#6: Swimsuits with Laced Siding

Straps are huge these days! Showing skin but just enough while making the blood boil and the imagination run wild seems to be totally in on the psychological summer 2017 swimwear trends aspect, so the one-piece swimwear with the side lacing makes perfect sense, among other trends on this list.

We see the look come in multiple styles from halters to spaghetti straps, push-ups and deep V necklines, with bows over the thighs or the lacing appearing more as cutouts, the latter seen at Frankie’s Bikinis, while the former happily shown off at Blue Life.

You can go for mesh looks and more innocent designs as well, but since spring 2017 is focusing on the sexy for swimwear, we totally recommend the combinations of color, cut, lacing, and overall fit.

#7: Swimwear with Cut Out the Sides

A look that we have enjoyed on the runways for the spring of 2017 has generally included cutouts and that generally to the sides. The summer 2017 swimwear trends also see this particular look, accenting the waist and the toned figure, appearing on one-piece suits that also incorporate some of the other trends discussed here.

Lee & Lani, for example, rather likes the sheer and swirl combinations, while Aguaclara opts for nature prints, halters and matching shoes and accessories as well. This trend has a touch of sexy without allowing it to overpower the swimwear, definitely something we can get used to.

#8: Wrapped Around the Breasts

Tops with a wrap-around feature seem to be in with gusto, just as the stringier pieces are and we cannot help but fall in love over and over again. They often showcase the breasts beautifully, pushing the right amount and certainly holding things in place so that swimming and diving should not become a major worry.

We see them with halters and spaghetti straps, in colorful designs and a combination of single and double pieces. They are versatile and so very good looking, definitely on our list of spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends to invest in, no matter the designer we choose from. We have to admit to falling in love with Gottex designs though, especially under this category.

#9: One-Shoulder Wraps

Asymmetric cuts are not limited to dresses for the spring/ summer 2017 trends it seems, with swimwear certainly taking on the look for itself as well, from appearing on Mint Swim bikinis to having onside fall to the waist and worn with matching bandeaus at Myra Swim.

We see gorgeous light-colored Invista looks in single pieces as well, while there is a total Miss World pageant feel to Sirenes De Soleil’s single-shoulder single-piece designs.

#10: Low-Cut Singles

Remember how the clothing trends included the deep V-necklines throughout the Fashion Weeks around the world? Have you noticed that the trend has been going strong for many months now?

The summer 2017 swimwear is certainly not immune to this style of fashion either and has been reveling in it, from the nude halters and bridal lacy and white pieces seen at Beach Riot to the sheer cutout additions noticed at For Love & Lemons and Cirone Swim.

There are even some goddess-style rather triple X rated pieces that appear at Myra Swim, Filthy Haanz and Sirenes De Soleil. Honestly, it is one of the sexiest summer 2017 swimsuit trends on the runways these days and will certainly be all the rage at the beach.

#11: High-Cut Swimsuits with Majority

We love high-cut single-piece swimsuits because of the Baywatch effect and the whole elongated leg ideal. And then there are those cuts that seem to go sky high and are topped with very low necklines as well, showing off curves that normally a swimsuit would happily be covering.

Tony bikinis show off lots of skin, but these are the ones that will get the blood boiling and the appreciative lustful stares beckoning to you for some fun. Myra Swim has things barely covered but still appearing more on the sporty side, while Filthy Haanz decides to mix in lingerie along with Hot-As-Hell and Sirenes De Soleil, the latter of which appears with a sheer robe pulled over, entirely too reminiscent of Aphrodite with a modern twist.

Sex sells they say, so the summer 2017 swimwear trends are definitely going to be selling like hotcakes.

#12: Bikinis on Strings

Yes, this is a classic, but it is still a trend that is used with multiple other spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends, whether they be color-oriented or cut. For the 2017 year, you can do leopard strings with tassels as seen at Lybethras, in bridal style per For Love & Lemons, or nice and colorful to match the Silvia Ulson paradise look.

The strong bikini appears in tiger prints and lovely yellow coloring as well, among many other designs that make this classic a modern favorite as well. Strong and nude combinations have got to be some of the better looks on the runway though in Miami, as seen at Hammock.

#13: Strings on Steroids

We know and love string bikinis. We have obviously included them on this summer 2017 swimwear trends list for they do appear all over, but there is another trend that is similar but not quite the same that we really should consider.

OMG Swimwear gives us a gorgeous glimpse into the strappy bottoms to bikinis, with sheer robes thrown on top for added effect and a belt keeping it tied to the waist, but showing off everything underneath.

We love the triple to quadruple strapping on these bikini designs that include everything from dominatrix-style lingerie looks to lovely wraparound designs that come in bright colors and everything that makes spring special seems to be taken into account here. The look is not for everyone though, as is made perfectly obvious with all trends.

#14: Nude in Color

If you love showing skin but being modest at the same time, this is probably the closest you are going to be to looking naked over your trip to the sea. You are showing off just enough but still cover up the essentials, enjoying the neutrality of nude and the extra stares you’ll be getting while strutting your beach body about the sands.

Go for string bikinis or deep V-necklines, push up styles to the bras or very simple high on the hip-cut one-piece designs! You can let your hair down and be free wearing Beach Riot, Hot-As-Hell, Kay & Elle or Casa Indah just to name a few.

#15: Shades of Yellow

Yellow is a huge color trend for spring 2017, appearing in everything from sunshine to banana to buttercup and more. It appears in summer 2017 swimwear trends as well, from lighter neon to almost nude, single shoulders or double, bikinis or one-pieces.

The hue is a great one for the season and since swimming and sunshine go together like two peas in a pod, we cannot help but revel in the color choices of the designers, no matter who they are. For selection options, you can certainly check out Invista, Mint Swim, G Saints, or Issa de’ Mar, playing around with what you deem sexy on your own body.

That includes everything from strappy bottoms to sheer cutouts, in bright yellows or dulled out hues meant to keep the attention classy and the focus more on your abilities than how lingerie-inspired the garments worn feel like.

#16: Animal Prints

Okay. We get it. We love animals and particularly big cat prints. And we love swimwear. So what happens when you mix the two loves together? Long sleeves, zips that show off the breasts underneath in Pamela Anderson style and white leopard prints, that’s what.

We find tasseled string bikinis in yellow cheetah prints and even some gorgeous tigers among the mix. It is not as big a trend as expected, but it certainly appears often enough to warrant its own category, no matter that it is focused on the big cats for the most part this spring and summer.

#17: Plethora of Prints

While the simple colors and even the contrasting color blocks appear all over, the plethora of prints is hard to overlook when checking out the spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends. We get to see lots of tie-dye, chevron stripes, global ethnics, scarf prints, ombre or geometrics, all of them bringing in colors and shapes that we can fully enjoy as we strut out to the pool or beach.

Orange, coral, teal or pink are seen quite a bit throughout and the bright neon colors are truly appreciated for the spring and summer months.

#18: Modern Coast Guarding

Forget Baywatch. One of the top new spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends that actually has been seen quite a bit of on the 2016 runways as well, includes the coast guard attire with a modern twist and a sexy attitude. Surfer girls are in the house and they are wearing short sleeves, blue hue color blocking and sheer paneling across the center of the chest.

The sheer panels are a big thing it seems, along with the crop tops as the surfer rush is presented with a fashion-forward wardrobe. That includes long sleeves matched with tiny bikini bottoms as at Aguaclara, alongside simple center-zip one-piece suits so many designers were carrying on stage.

We even noticed some Luli Fama side cutouts to this trend, complete with high necks and long sleeves and all. We even see some big cat prints on some of the gorgeous designs.

#19: Creative Cover Up

Sarongs used to do the trick or simple robes pulled over your swimwear. Now, designers have given us a more modern, more intriguing option to look into, with cover-ups that range in designs and style, in cuts and transparencies, and give us all types of different layers. These include sheer pants alongside open weave tops and long-sleeve wraps among others.

Even little bolero jackets come into play with sheer long sleeves that almost look like they are part of the swimsuit itself. We have to give it to Indah though as we get boho chic in lacy halter dresses that draw out the beauty of the summer 2017 swimwear underneath.

#20: Totally Racy Lingerie-Style Swimsuits

We have made mention of the lingerie-style swimwear multiple times in this summer 2017 swimsuit trend report, but it definitely needs its own category here. We see some incredibly gorgeous pieces, some more meant for enticing partners while others add in a dominant attitude.

What all share in common is the fact that they appear as lingerie despite being part of the swimwear collection, and all have some form of a super sexy or, in this case, racy aspect to them.

We have no idea just how appropriate many of these looks are for the water though, as we see cover-ups in sheer lace and high slits, lacy additions to simple plunging neck one-piece creations, bustier style looks, baby doll cover-up effects, ruffled solutions and more.

#21: Bottoms Up With High Waists

High waists and cut-outs or lacing certainly make sense and they have been around for a few seasons now, meaning that there is something truly interesting about this summer 2017 swimwear trend. They offer a classier effect to the sexy and give the ladies a more mature makeup as they appear on the beach and around the pools.

The ability to show a good amount of skin while still maintaining shape and beauty is not something to let go of either, as we enjoy covering our bellies with pieces that we can clearly state are beyond attractive.

#22: Relaxing in Ruffled Swimsuits

Another show-stealer from all the rest of the spring/ summer 2017 swimwear trends, ruffles are a sure sign of a more innocent beauty, in direct contrast to the more dominatrix styles that have gone into some of the other trends.

Ruffles around the neck on more triangular-based tops are lovely beyond belief, while ruffled bikini bottoms are totally recommended for the days of sun and surf. Add in some off-the-shoulder swimsuits on top and you have a babe ready to party all night long.
